The Blondie Surprise

Sunday, April 26. Tim's belated birthday surprise!

Tim was on Mount Kinabalu on his birthday (how awesome is that?!), but we didn't forget. Hence, the belated surprise.

The crawl. The Sadako.
[Tom Jungleman, me, Tim Blondie, Char]

The Plan:
The Monitor Lizard Mission- Tom invites Tim out for dinner, Char and I show up to surprise him. Very simple.

[Background story of how the monitor lizard was part of it. We were planning to surprise Tim while he was in Malacca during the weekend, in which Char suggested we jump out at him at the Melaka River- monitor lizard style hahaha No idea why the lizard, but since then, reference has been made to it]

The Execution:
Tom gets panicky every now and then...ie. a couple days pre-surprise and the morning itself. He'd be so anxious, leaving Char and I wondering "Has he forgotten about the plan? Why is he so blur?" O.o

Having our plan in place, he suddenly told us to invite Tim out for dinner which would've defeated the purpose of us being the surprise, no? The present buying was another case (later in the post), that I didn't know whether to be irritated or to laugh. But I was mostly left confused. Oh, Tommy! haha

After watching The Avengers on Friday with Muiz, Tim joined us for dinner. While at Flingstones Cafe, we asked each other about our weekend plans. It seemed like he asked cz he really wanted to hang out with us (he misses us from being away traveling! Aww..), while we asked with the motive of ensuring he's free on Sunday so our plan would go as planned XD

Of course we made ourselves sounded really busy, duh! Char needs to pack her luggage, I had assignments to rush. As he was leaving in the cab, he almost wanted to say "See you guys on Sunday!", but I cut him off at "Sunday" by saying "..whenever!" hahaha I felt bad cz he looked disappointed, but come on, it was for the greater good :P

On Sunday morning, Tim text us individually asking if we were up for dinner with him and Tom. I told him I was under the weather and had assignments to rush, while Char said she's busy packing for JB. Those reasons were all true, by the way..just that we were willing to arrange our time for the surprise. Having fallen sick on Friday, I made a beeline to the Dragon Pot to gulp down two bowls of Wong Lo Kat (bitter herbal tea) just to ensure I'm mostly recovered by Sunday, mind you! He'd better be grateful :P He then asked again in the evening, while we were already on our way to the meeting point (oh, silly Tim) hahaha So desperate :P

Meeting point was Dataran Merdeka (Merdeka Square) since dinner was at an Indian restaurant nearby. Took the LRT from KLCC to Pasar Seni and walk walk walk!

Being rather punctual/early people, we arrived at 6.15pm. Thinking that they might be early, we sneaked around, in case they saw us first hahaha How silly. Every time we saw two people together, we immediately hide behind a lamp post or wall LOL Got tired of getting false alarms, so we relaxed and roamed around. It was my first time there, believe it or not!

A tad bit worried when the dark clouds started coming our way...and there was a lightning or two O.o

grey sky

Started getting a little bit impatient, but Tom sure has a great sense of timing! At 6.30pm sharp, I spotted the two blondes across the road hahaha Char and I quickly hid behind the walls at where Tunku Abdul Rahman (Malaysia's first PM) melaungkan "Merdeka!".

while hiding

Minutes after playing one-sided Hide & Seek, we finally got the chance to creep up behind them cz the very clever Tom sat them down at the staircase. Apparently he spotted Char's bag, so he knew we were there. According to Tim, he said Tom suggested to pay Dataran Merdeka a visit again as he likes it there. So they just randomly chilled around hahahaha Good job, Tom!

We hurriedly but quietly walked over to them. I quietly sat between them and put an arm over Tim's shoulder, and said "Surprise.." monotonously. I tend to choose creepy over loud surprises, I don't know why hahaha As expected, I felt him froze before turning to me and went "AHHH!", covering his face hahaha

He looked at both Char and I, not registering in his head that we were actually real and right in front of him hahaha The shock state lasted for quite an amount of time, he was so touched that he almost teared! Awwwww :')

All the rejection from us was for this! He quietly thought to himself about the conversations he had with Tom, Char and myself from the past week up till then. "Lies, all those lies...", I said to him while laughing my butt off. It was well worth it though, seeing him so happy :D

Char and I then asked if he still had research to do that night and he just looked at Tom and went "Ahhh...youuuuuuuu! hahaha". Story behind that was, Tom had another panic attack that morning when Tim messaged him saying he would join him for dinner, but have to be home by 8pm to do some research. Tom screenshot it and sent it to our group chat, freeeeeeaking out! My reaction was "Don't worry about it. Once he sees us, he wouldn't wanna do his research. It can wait haha" Which was true lah! I called Char to notify her about it and she said to me the exact same thing! See? Why freak out, Tom? HAHA

Dinner was just a few blocks away- Saravana Bhavan. They didn't know what the shop's name was, only the direction hahaha It's one of my pet peeves- to not know where I'm going. But it was okaylah, a bit annoying but adorable too lol

When I saw "vegetarian restaurant", I cringed inwardly and as we sat down, I was like "umm...I need my meat" and they all burst out laughing. Come on, let's be real. I can never be a herbivore.

We ordered quite a lot of food! I was slightly surprised when the guys suggested ordering different food so we can all share. That's what girls do all the time, but from what I've gathered, guys don't do that. So hurray for Tim and Tom!

Ordered so much food, we were well filled up! Not to mention the yogurt + strawberry ice cream combination. Unexpectedly good, I would say. It's like when you first taste it, the sourness strikes and you can't decide if you like it or not...but a few seconds later, you're like "Ahhh...this is actually good!". After food it was present timeeeee! Speaking of which, another Tom story hahaha

After church on Easter Sunday, Tom and I went to Mid Valley for lunch. Walking around Daiso, I spotted a popsicle mold and pointed out that it'd make a great gift for Tim's birthday! He immediately picked it up and paid for it. Teasingly, I complained, "Hey, that was my idea!! Great, now I don't know what to get Tim" hahaha After enduring my whining, he offered to share it with me LOL How kind.

The morning of the surprise, Tom asked what are we getting Tim. Char said maybe a book, which he then asked for book suggestions and went to get it right away. Char was like "Wtf?! What do I buy now?!!" hahahahahaha

The last straw was when I asked him for our meeting point cz I needed to plan my route beforehand and buy the cake. Because of my potentially bad sentencing, he misunderstood and thought I asked him to get the cake. I'll let you take a guess on what happened next HAHA It was hilariously annoying that I went "Tom!!! Why do you have to steal our ideas?!!" hahahaha So yes, he got everything settled (which was great cz we wouldn't need to rush) and we just split the cost haha Thank you, Tommy!

...and finally, a joke gift. That morning, Tom reminded me to bring Tim's hard drive. As a joke, he told me to wrap it with gift wrap too hahaha The evil side of Tom, see?

"hmm...what could it be?"

you're welcomed, Tim :P

To drag the night of fun slightly longer, we headed for Petaling Street aka Chinatown! Blending in with the old Caucasians sitting at the round tables who were drinking beer, we chit chatted about the Dutch version of Santa Claus, Sinterklaas.

Leaving before the KTM closes, I discovered the Kuala Lumpur KTM station which goes straight to Serdang! The boys told us about it, but Char and I were kinda skeptical cz we've never heard of the existence of it! Followed anyway cz they looked like they knew what they're doing, and true enough it exists. It's very near to the Pasar Seni LRT hahaha #failedMalaysian

Stayed over at the boys' since it was late, plus slumber partayyy! Except... I had an assignment to rush and we didn't have a Twister set :( So it was beer with Jonas and playing DJ by turn. Thankfully, I don't need quietness to do my assignment cz I swear they were so louddddd! Tom with his Dutch songs, Jonas with the 90's music, Char and Tim with like soundtracks and Malaysian songs (I think) hahaha

It was a fun night trying to focus on my PowerPoint with a Tom singing at the top of his lungs, a Tim doing some crazy dance and a Jonas telling them to keep it low for me hahaha

thanks for the lappy, Tommy!

Jonas went to bed just as I was done with my assignment cz it was rather late then...and he sleeps early. Thanks for hanging out, Jonas brother! XD Mask time to end the night!

It was hilarious how the mask sheet didn't fit Tim's face, the upper lip part just droops down hahaha Impossible not to laugh when looking at each other, especially the boys with Tom relaxing in the corner like he's at a spa and the pitiful Tim with his oversize mask sheet hahaha

trying to fix the damage

Char and I insisted on sleeping in the living room that night, thanks guys for arranging the mattress and couch cushions for us! Can't believe we chit chatted and laughed till 4am, while the boys were sleeping soundly in the room! It's been a while since we got to just talk about every single thing. I love late night conversations in the dark like that hehe

Happy birthday again, Blondie! And you're welcome :P

Don't forget your Malaysian besties when you're back in Germany! :'(
